Avon – Passed suddenly on October 16, 2022 at age 67. Bob grew up on "Pollock Hill" in Oswego. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Susan (Staggs) Nelson; son, Garret Nelson; stepchildren, Jillian (CJ) Lloyd, Rebekah Schreppel, Kiersten (Mason) Yourkonis; sisters, Linda (Donald) Nelson Babcock, Sandra Nelson, Rebecca (Chris) Batchelor; brothers, Timothy (Kim) Nelson, Andrew Nelson; grandchildren, Gracie Nelson, Madelyn and Samantha Lloyd, Savannah Allen; several nieces and nephews; many close friends.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Jacqueline M. Taber Nelson and Robert J. Nelson, and sisters Veronica Mayo and Roberta Bryant.

Bob realized his talents in construction early in life. He started multiple successful businesses. One of the first, Hunter-Nelson Inc, was founded in 1986, and continues to bear his name to this day. He also founded multiple residential companies. His talent in the field can be seen through the beautiful custom homes he built across the Eastern Coast.

At Oswego High School, Bob enjoyed running track, and playing football and basketball. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed working on his brother Timmy's race team in the 80’s. He often turned heads on the track with his Honda powered Fiat X1/9. He latest passion was his Corvette C8.R. Bob was a member of the Genesee Valley Car Club, IMSA, Summit Racing, National Auto Sport Association, Rochester Corvette Club and the Grass Roots Gridlife Racing Associations. He was the NASA-SE TTU champion in 2020. He was an avid Syracuse Orange and Yankees fan. Bob, known to his grandchildren as RoJo, whom he greatly adored.

His Memorial Service will be held at the Stephenson - Dougherty Funeral Home 350 Genesee Street, Avon on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to ALS Association Upstate New York Chapter 135 Old Cove Road, Suite 213 - Liverpool, NY 13090 in his memory.
