Obituary for Diane D. Krenzer (Delaney)

Krenzer, Diane Frances
(Delaney)

Avon - Lima: September 29, 2017 at age 79, a wondrous mix of curiosity and kindness. Predeceased by her parents, Mark and Alice Delaney, son James, and brother Thomas. Beloved wife of Cyril A. Krenzer of Avon, NY for 55 years. Survived by her children, Kathleen Krenzer of Fairport, NY, Patrick (Kim) Krenzer of Honeoye Falls, NY, Colleen (Anthony Tama) Krenzer of London, Kerry (Scott) Hallock of Scottsville, NY, and Michael (Katie) Krenzer of Pittsford, NY, brothers Mark and Donald, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Diane will also be remembered by her great source of joy, her eight grandchildren. Siobhan, Fionnagh, and Nolan Krenzer; Ethan and Erin Hallock; and Brady, Mitchell and Jamie Krenzer.

Diane began a career at GE in Schenectady immediately after high school. Her managers recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a college degree. A graduate of Buffalo State in Education, Diane combined her love of education, her interest in new people and her devotion to her six children by participating in youth and community activities. She co-lead the Merry Measuring Cups, a 4H Group in Owego, NY, where she instilled life skills, a sense of purpose and the importance of laughing so hard tears rolled down your cheeks. Also, Diane was one of the driving forces in the Honeoye Falls-Lima Sports Booster Clubs that raised funds for the school’s first-ever lighted athletic field.

Along with her voracious reading, gardening and love of show tunes, Irish singers and marching music, Diane was a natural athlete. While Diane enjoyed sports of all kinds, particularly Notre Dame football, playing basketball or throwing the ball with her grandkids is where she made a lasting mark. Even in recent years, when Alzheimer’s had choked her brain, her athletic instincts remained intact, prompting her grandkids to say, “Wow, Grandma has a good arm!”

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, 5 - 9 pm at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, 350 Genesee Street, Avon. Friday at 11 AM her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Church, Avon. If anyone gets into a fit of laughter during Mass, Diane would be the first to understand. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people consider donations to FISH (Friends in Service Here) of HF-L, c/o Bruce Mayer, 1755 Rochester Street, Lima, NY 14485.

“I go to the hills, when my heart is lonely. I know I will hear, what I’ve heard before. My heart will be blessed, with the sound of music. And I’ll sing once more.”
